Hebe breviracemosa is an erect growing, evergreen shrub, which can reach 40
in (1 m) or more tall. The leaves are light green, spear shaped, 3–4 in
(70–100 mm) long, and about 1 in (25 mm) wide. The flowers are lilac, fading
to white, July to December. A tender hebe only suitable for coastal UK
gardens.
This hebe comes from the Kermadec Islands, to the north of New Zealand. Hebe
breviracemosa was first found in 1908, when it was being eaten by goats, and
it was feared that it would soon be extinct. However in 1984 it was
rediscovered, and brought into cultivation.
